Three Local Coaches to Be Inducted into MHSFCA Hall of Fame

The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association announced its 2021 and 2022 Hall of Fame classes, which include Boyne City’s Rick Applin, Frankfort’s Matt Stapleton and Kingsley’s Tim Wooer.

Wooer is currently in his second stint at Kingsley where he has led them to a 40-6 record in four years, including three district titles and one regional title. MiSportsNow featured Wooer in the in 2018. He has won state title with Kingsley in 2005.

Stapleton helped Frankfort become one of the top programs in the state, leading them to 19 playoff appearances in 21 seasons and compiling a record of 166-69. He led them to 11 district championships, three regional titles and to the Div. 8 state semifinals three times.

Applin was a member of the 2021 class that will be inducted this year. According to , he had been a part of the football program for nine years. He also coached football for 25 years and baseball for 27 years at Fenton.

The induction ceremony is scheduled for Friday, June 24.
