MISportsNow is putting the spotlight on northern Michigan high school senior student-athletes who had their seasons cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Big Rapids senior Eden Short had a stellar two-year varsity tennis career for the Cardinals and is now set to take her talents to Ferris State and its tennis program.
A two-time regional champion, Short made school history as a junior by becoming the first Cardinal in school history to reach the quarterfinal round of the state finals.
Short is excited to stay close to home and attend a university where she has several connections.
“I’ve always practiced there. I’m really good friends with the players there. My mom’s a professor at Ferris, so I’ve always had a good relationship with the university,” Short said. “It just so happened that I was offered a position. I accepted. I’ll be going to Ferris with my twin brother, so we’ll be together. My mom’s there, so it’s just a big family affair. I’m looking forward to it a lot more because I will have relationships there for sure.”
