Here is the latest Michigan sports news from The Associated Press

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Eli Brooks scored 22 points, including four 3-pointers, to help No. 4 Michigan to a 74-61 win over UNLV on Friday night. Moussa Diabate had 14 points and seven rebounds for the Wolverines (3-1), and Hunter Dickinson added 13 points and seven rebounds. Bryce Hamilton led the Runnin’ Rebels (3-1) with 21 points, who lost for the first time under new coach Kevin Kruger. Michael Nuga and Donovan Williams each scored 12 points. Michigan on Tuesday suffered a two-point loss at home to Seton Hall.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff missed a third straight practice with an oblique injury and is listed as doubtful to play against the Cleveland Browns. Tim Boyle is expected to make his first career start Sunday in Cleveland. Goff was hurt in the winless Lions’ tie last Sunday at Pittsburgh. The Lions signed Boyle to a one-year contract in free agency to back up Goff. Boyle spent the previous three years behind Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay. Boyle went on injured reserve after breaking a thumb in the preseason. He returned to practice last week.

DETROIT (AP) — Jordan Poole stepped up in Stephen Curry’s absence to score 22 of his season-high 32 points in the first half, Andrew Wiggins finished with 27 points and Golden State beat the Detroit Pistons 105-102. Golden State started the fourth with a 16-point lead and held on after Detroit’s Jerami Grant and Frank Jackson missed 3-pointers in the closing seconds. The NBA-leading Warriors sat out Curry with a bruised hip, a night after the two-time MVP and the league’s leading scorer had 20 of his 40 points in a fourth-quarter comeback victory at Cleveland. They were also without Draymond Green.

DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Tigers added infielder Kody Clemens to their 40-man roster.  He is the youngest son of seven-time Cy Young winner Roger Clemens. Detroit also put right-hander Angel De Jesus to the roster on Friday. Niko Goodrum cleared waivers and elected to be a free agent. The Tigers outrighted right-hander Nivaldo Rodriguez and outfielder Jacob Robson to Triple-A Toledo after they cleared waivers. The 25-year-old Clemens hit .247 with 18 homers and 59 RBIs in 97 games for the Mud Hens last season, his first year at Triple-A.

UNDATED (AP) — A prospect with probably one of the more unusual stories heading into the 2022 NFL draft is Central Michigan offensive lineman Bernhard Raimann. Raimann grew up in Austria and he was initially into soccer, like many European kids. He signed up as a teenager to play with the Vienna Vikings, an American football club team. The tall and gangly Raimann was originally a wide receiver. At Central Michigan, he played at tight end before switching to left tackle.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Lions and Browns both enter Sunday’s game desperate for different reasons. Detroit is still seeking its first win after coming so close last week and settling for a 16-16 tie in Pittsburgh. Cleveland was embarrassed 45-7 at New England and the Browns can’t afford many more losses or their postseason hopes will disappear. Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield will start despite missing practice time this week with shoulder, foot and knee injuries. Detroit QB Jared Goff is listed as doubtful after suffering an oblique injury against the Steelers. The Browns are just 5-19 all-time against the Lions.
