Michelle Dunaway started at 9 & 10 News as a general assignment reporter in October of 2000. Today she serves as host and co-executive producer of the newest addition to the 9 & 10 schedule, the hour long lifestyle show called ‘the four’. Today she helps “spread the good” with her team, after spending nearly two decades in news. She’s anchored Michigan This Morning, and the news at Noon, 5:00 and 6:00. She’s covered stories as a reporter from the top of the Mackinac Bridge, to Detroit, the UP and everywhere in between.
Today, she feels lucky to be able to focus her attention on the wonderful people, places and things that make northern Michigan amazing. From wellness, to food, books, the arts, charity, opportunity and beyond, the team at ‘the four’ is always looking for ways to engage viewers and make them smile.
She’s won 3 Michigan Emmy awards and received several honors from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press. But her real passion is being able to meet people and share their stories.
When she’s not working, Michelle gets in as much time as she can with her husband, her daughter and their two doodles. She enjoys traveling, cooking and eating. Fitness is very important to her – from running and biking – to burpees and bench presses. Horses will always be a passion.
Charity work is also a big part of her life. She currently serves on the board for Special Olympics Michigan and the foundation board for Hospice of Michigan. She’s a member of the Women’s Giving Circle and tries to give her time on various event planning committees – the OASIS Family Resource Center will always be near and dear to her heart. She also loves supporting her favorite causes by doing things like jumping into frozen lakes or walking nearly 50 miles in a day.
Michelle is very grateful to be a part of the family that is Northern Michigan’s News Leader. She offers many thanks to the loyal viewers who choose to allow the team into their homes every day. She encourages anyone with a great story to share, an idea or a way to spread the good to reach out to ‘the four.’
