Michelle Dunaway started at 9 & 10 News as nervous, newbie reporter way back in October of 2000. Today she serves as anchor and co-executive producer of the newest addition to the 9 & 10 schedule, the hour long lifestyle show called The four. But before that, she anchored Michigan This Morning, and the news at Noon, 5:00 and 6:00. She’s covered stories as a reporter all over northern Michigan, and has grown up quite a bit.
Today health and wellness are very important to her. She brings you Medwatch, a local piece featuring the medical technology we have available to us here in northern Michigan. And she’s instrumental in producing Wellness Wednesday, a special show dedicated to helping viewers make better choices that will improve their health.
She’s won 3 Michigan Emmy awards and received several honors from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press. But her real passion is being able to tell people’s stories, help them find the quality health care they need and inspire them to make an active lifestyle a priority.
When she’s not working, Michelle gets in as much time as she can with her husband, her daughter and their puppy. She enjoys traveling, cooking and eating. Fitness is very important to her – from running and biking – to burpees and bench presses. Horses will always be a passion.
Charity work is also a big part of her life. She’s served on the board of the OASIS Family Resource Center for several years, was recently elected to the board of Special Olympics Michigan and serves on the Women’s Giving Circle. She also loves supporting her favorite causes by doing things like jumping into frozen lakes or walking nearly 50 miles in a day.
Michelle is very grateful to be a part of the family that is Northern Michigan’s News Leader. She offers many thanks to the loyal viewers who choose to allow the team into their homes every day.
