Employers are constantly looking for reliable and work-ready students in their area and one northern Michigan ISD was chosen to provide just the program to help those students and employers meet one another.
The Eastern U.P. Intermediate School District was chosen to test out a pilot program known as the Career and Technical Education (C.T.E) Program.
Michelle met with Tammy Rutledge and Linda Schmitigal-Snyder to learn all about how it’s benefitting the area.
Some of the local benefits include training to develop marketable, skilled EUP workers, improving the local and regional economy and building relationships between employers and schools.
Students are either working on their GED or their High School Diploma to take part in the program and they typically have lower scores in mathematics and reading. Not only are these students learning marketable skills, but they are also taking part in a national credential in CTE.
They are helping prepare and place students in high demand jobs like welding, design, cybersecurity, construction, and so much more.
