Eleven people are recovering this morning in a New Orleans hospital after a mass shooting in the famed French Quarter.

The shooting happened early yesterday morning.

New Orleans police say the streets were crowded with thousands of people in town for the Bayou Classic football game.

Police were walking the area for crowd control, but with so many people they say it was difficult to find where exactly the shots were coming from.

Two of the victims are still in critical condition.

New Orleans police say they have detained one person and are investigating their involvement, but say there are possibly more suspects involved in the shooting.
