MTM On The Road: New at FSU

There is a lot of new and exciting things happening at Ferris State University in Big Rapids!

First Regan Blissett and Stephanie Adkins see what’s new at Ferris State University’s Swan Technical Arts Building which underwent a $30 million expansion. They are now celebrating the project that resulted in an increase of laboratory and classroom facilities for their Welding Technology and Welding Engineering Technology program. They have state of the art equipment and they are now able to increase the amount of students in the classroom.

Now, incoming freshman might want to consider staying in the North Hall dorm, one of the newest dorms on campus. It has classrooms for students while having living and learning centers. They even have a workout facility. Finding a roommate could be difficult but FSU is implementing a new roommate matching system to make it easier!

The On The Road crew then heads to the R.L. Ewigleben Sports Complex where there are plans in the works to build a Center for Athletics Performance that will cost $6.5 million. The expansion will help build student athletes skill capabilities by having a dedicated facility to do so. The plans for the complex includes a nutrition hydration area, an expanded sports medicine area, a turfed area for cross training, locker space, meeting rooms for teams, and much more.

They are still in the fundraising process for the complex and if you’re looking to donate or learn more, click here.

Also new at FSU are new additions to the Jim Crow Museum. The museum has been around since 2012, and they just received photos from the Civil Rights Movement to add to their growing collection of artifacts. The museum is hoping to become a standalone facility because they keep on growing.

Regan and Stephanie then test their golfing skills at the new Ken Janke Sr. Golf Learning Center. It’s a $3.5 million facility was showcased in February. They have golf game play simulators and heated indoor hitting bays. Don’t forget to practice your putting skills on their indoor putting green.

Regan and Stephanie wrap up by giving you a look at Ferris’s Museum of Sexist Objects. It raises awareness about every day items that promote sexism and female stereotypes.

Wake up with Regan Blissett and Stephanie Adkins as they travel around campus to showcase what’s new at FSU!
