Stomp Out Cancer, a local nonprofit organization is hosting the 9th annual Snowshoe Stampede.

The fun activities will take place at the VFW in Manistee on February 2.

The event includes a less than two mile hike, live music, a chili cook off and corn hole tournament.

The funds raised will help Manistee and Mason County cancer patients.

They will be able to pay their medical co-pays, medications and anything else to make their lives easier.

The president of Stomp Out Cancer has personally been impacted by cancer.

“I have personally been diagnosed with cancer and currently battling cancer,” Jessica Sharp, president of Stomp Out Cancer.”We’re all firsthand aware of the financial burden that cancer can put on a family.”

Stomp Out Cancer has had success with the amount of revenue they receive from this event.

“We started with making around $8,000,” Sharp said. “It has exploded in to we are now making $25-30,000, so we’re able to help a lot more people.”

Stomp Out Cancer has been able to help 270 patients so far.
