DNR Gets Ready For Opening Day

Opening day for Michigan firearm season is next week.

And hunters and the DNR are staying busy getting ready.

The DNR says hunters should sight in their rifles before going out in the woods  to make sure they shoot accurately.

They also say hunters should check the rest of their gear.

And make sure they know the rules where they hunt.

"Especially if you’re in an unfamiliar area. Antler restrictions are one thing that trip people up a lot over in Cadillac here there is a restriction. It’s 3 points on the side or better for any buck," said Vernon Richardson.

Even though the weather is supposed to be warmer,  the DNR says the deer will still be moving.

Hunters will just have a harder time seeing them.
