Bellaire High School is Accepting Formal Wear Donations

910 News

For many high school students, finding affordable formal wear can be a challenge.

Bellaire High School is aiming to help solve this problem with Formal Flip.

They have partnered up with other schools in Antrim County, along with Goodwill and Tiny Traveling Boutique in Elk Rapids.

Anyone can drop off gently-used formal clothing, shoes and jewelry at Bellaire High School or Tiny Traveling Boutique on Friday, Feb. 4th.

Everyone will receive a ticket for each item dropped off.

Tickets can be used to swap or trade in new clothing items at the Formal Flip event.

“I mean, essentially we are going to have anything and everything a kid needs to be able to walk out with an outfit ready to go for snowcoming, prom or if they haven’t even been outside of school,” Bellaire High School counselor Ashley Young said.

Young said students are already very excited to swap new formal clothes.

“It doesn’t have to cost a ton of money for kids to be able to go to these dances and they can essentially walk out with a brand new outfit,” Young said.

Formal Flip will take place at Bellaire High School on Saturday, Feb. 5th.
