Northwestern Michigan College Students Hand Out 125 Thanksgiving Meals

More than a hundred families are extra thankful this Thanksgiving, thanks to students at Northwestern Michigan College.

On Monday, business students handed out 125 thanksgiving meals to families in the community and even fellow students.

This stems from their annual Food for Thought Program, which teaches the students how to communicate through experiential learning.

Students in the program each wrote letters to different organizations and businesses for donations to be able to provide these meals.

“Doing this process has opened [my eyes] and made me almost cry a little bit today because I’m seeing these families and I’m just so thankful that I get this chance to help them out,” said Mahli Braak, a Marketing/Public Relations Leader at Northwestern Michigan College.

“For me, it’s also opened my eyes to the business world as a business professional, how to communicate properly with the community and also help them out,” said Luke Davis, a Logistics Co-Leader. “It’s really opened my eyes because, to me, this is brand new so it’s very to the heart.”

This marks the 8th year of the Food for Thought Program at Northwestern Michigan College.
