Postal Worker Dies Following Accident With Semi Truck

A postal worker who was critically injured following an accident with a semi-truck on M-115 in Wexford County has passed away.

According to her , Leah Tibbs was hospitalized for two weeks at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City following the accident on Sept. 23rd.

Tibbs passed away from her injuries on Oct. 8.

On Sept. 23, Michigan State Police were dispatched to an two-car accident on M-115 near South Mackinaw Trail in Clam Lake Township.

Their initial investigation found that a semi-truck driven by a 60-year-old Hersey man was travelling Southeast on M-115.

Tibbs was also headed Southeast on M-115. She was traveling on the road’s shoulder when she turned left into the lane of travel in front of the semi-truck and was struck.

Tibbs was airlifted to Munson after life-saving efforts were made by a MSP trooper, a motor carrier officer and EMS personnel.

Visitation for Tibbs will be held on Friday, Oct. 15th from 5-7 p.m. at the Young-Holdship Funeral Home in Lake City.
