NEW DETAILS: Bus Garage Catches Fire in Gladwin

Posted: Updated:

A Gladwin Community Schools bus, and part of the bus garage itself, were damaged by a Friday evening fire.

The fire chief tells 9&10 News the flames started in the front part of a bus that had been moved to a service bay a few hours earlier. The fire destroyed the bus, and caused serious damage to part of the building.

It took crews just about half an hour to get the fire under control. Since the bus was moved a few hours earlier away from the main fleet, crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to the area where the district's 30 or so other buses are kept.

The damage is estimated to be around $200,000.
