Osceola County Barn Destroyed in Early Morning Fire

Posted: Updated:

Seven fire departments responded to a barn fire in Osceola County early this morning.

The fire chief tells 9&10 News the flames were spotted at the barn on 70th Avenue in Hartwick Township around 6:30 a.m. They were first seen by a neighbor, who woke up the family.

The family did manage to save six cows, several dogs and a tractor from inside the barn. They did lose some milking equipment and other items. The building was not insured.

While the barn is destroyed, crews were able to keep the fire from damaging the home or another nearby barn.

No one was hurt.

The fire chief says the cold temperatures made the fight harder as water froze on the ground.
