Airport Runway Project Still on Hold at TVC - Northern Michigan's News Leader

Airport Runway Project Still on Hold at TVC

The federal government shut down may have ended last week - but there are still some lose ends here in Northern Michigan.

Cherry Capital Airport was in the middle of a runway improvement project when the government and the FAA shut down.

It couldn't have come at a worse time for TVC.

The construction caused crucial landing instruments pilots use in severe weather situations to be moved, and temporarily shut down.

But the FAA closure meant TVC couldn't start re-using them.

34 airports in the great lakes region were impacted during the government shut down. But TVC has been told they're a priority.

9&10's Marisa McKay spoke to travelers and the airport to learn when they expect this system to be operational, and why it's so important to do so.
