Campgrounds and Hotels See Peak in Tourism

Posted: Updated:

It's the last hoorah for families to vacation this summer. School is back in session just after Labor Day, and tourism is seeing a peak.

Timber Ridge Resort in Traverse City is getting ready for it's last two big weeks.

The camp spent this week celebrating Halloween in August... enjoying the holiday without the cool weather.

Campground events and Traverse city festivals keep the business busy in the summer months.

Timber ridge has more than 30 cabins and space for tents and RV's.

The business says it expects to be booked through Labor Day weekend.

There are still some spots open, but if you plan to camp next week -- you should reserve a camp site before they're all booked.

It's not just campgrounds being visited this time of year,  several hotels say they're fully booked for the next two weeks.

The Beach Haus in Traverse City say's it's having an unusual boom in visitors -- even filling up spots for the fall.

The hotel say's it's normal to see a lot of people this time of year, and it's starting to fill up weekends through September.

The Beach Haus is seasonal and closes after October, so it's very happy to see the extra reservations.

Fall tours and events are filling up the hotel and few September weekend rooms are left.
