Clearwater Twp. Firefighter Dies Of Sudden Illness

A northern Michigan fire department is remembering a fallen firefighter.

Lt. Jim Fellows died Tuesday night after a routine day at work. It is believed he died from a heart attack.

Fellows worked at Clearwater Township Fire Dept. in Kalkaska County for seven years and earned several awards including firefighter of the year.

His wife and daughter also spent some time working at the department.

Fellows was 45 years old. 

Lt. Fellows leaves behind his wife Teresa, daughters Allison and Katie, and son Hunter.

The funeral is Saturday, August 24 in Shepherd, MI. The viewing is from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. with the funeral service following at 1 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Berry Funeral Home.

A Memorial Service for family, friends, and firefighters to honor to Lieutenant Fellows will be Sunday, August 25 at the Clearwater Township Hall at 2 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established. Checks can be made to Clearwater Township Fire Department's Fallen Firefighter Lieutenant Jim Fellows Memorial Fund at Alden State Bank, PO Box 39, 10564 Coy St, Alden, MI 49612. Donations can also be dropped off at the Clearwater Township Fire Department and the Clearwater Township Hall.
