Pink Seagull Stands Out in Petoskey

Posted: Updated:

There's one bird you won't miss in a flock of seagulls around Emmet County.

A Petoskey couple first noticed a pink seagull two weeks ago in their yard, and it's been back a few times since.

An All-Bird Biologist with the DNR says she's not sure why this particular bird is pink, but she shared three possibilities with us.

She says the bird could be part of a scientific study, it could have eaten enough of the right types of pigments to make it appear pink, or it's possible, she says mischief makers painted it.

9&10's Christina Vecchioni and photojournalist Eric Davis have more details on this unique sighting.
