Local Silver Businesses Scammed By Woman Selling Fake Bars of Silver

Posted: Updated:

Police in Traverse City are looking for a woman they say scammed area shops out of thousands of dollars by cashing in fake silver.

Police tell 9&10 News back on April 27th, the woman pictured to the left of this story sold 100 fake, 1 ounce silver bars to at least 3 area shops who buy silver.

She received about $2,500 at each stop but it wasn't until recently the shops realized they were scammed.

Police downstate say there are also several victims in the Flint area, so many that they've turned the investigation over to secret service.

It is unclear where the woman is now.
