Mason County Sheriff Dealing With Black Mold

Posted: Updated:

Right now the entire building is quarantined after the mold was found in the walls of a conference room.

A clean up crew found mold in a prisoner's pod from a leaky shower, forcing the prisoners out of the cell.

Tomorrow the board of commissioners will approve the clean up of the found mold and the next move for the Sheriff's Department in Ludington.

It is not known how long the mold has been there but standing water was inside the wall for at least long enough to rust out the framework.

Nobody has gotten sick but losing the basement has been a problem for the department.

9&10's Eric Lloyd and photojournalist Jeff Blevins got a first hand look at the damage and have more details.
