Grab your driver, coast over the fairway and sink a putt...

More than 400 pros and amateurs will face off for a state title this weekend in disc golf.

The up-and-coming sport resembles traditional golf in many ways, except instead of clubs and golf balls, players use flying discs.

This is the 17th year the Michigan Disc Golf State Championship will be held in Mason County.

Both players and organizers say they're looking forward to a weekend of great competition.

Alex Jokich and Stephanie Adkins took us to Ludington on Thursday morning for a sneak peek at the weekend's events.

(The 21st Annual Discraft Michigan Disc Golf State Championship will take place from August 31st to September 3st, 2012 in Ludington, MI.  Those who have not yet qualified for the tournament and are still interested in competing can play in a Last Chance Qualifier on Friday.  Saturday and Sunday's tournament will take place on Beauty, Beast and Goliath at Mason County Park, Leviathan at Ludington School Forest, The Edge at Scottville Riverside Park and Flip City Disc Golf Park in Shelby, MI, beginning at 10am. The final rounds of the event will be the Michigan Disc Golf State Doubles Championship hosted by Northern Waters Series at Flip City Disc Golf Park on Monday, September 3rd.
