Police Focus in on Person of Interest in Search for Carnel Chamberlain

Posted: Updated:

A search warrant was executed on the man police are calling a person of interest in the case of a missing 4-year-old boy.

Anthony Bennett is the last person believed to have seen Carnel Chamberlain.  He's the mother's now ex-boyfriend.

The little boy disappeared Thursday afternoon from his home in Chippewa Township near Mount Pleasant in Isabella County.

Police and volunteers have been searching for the Carnel, but there has been no trace of him. Now it seems the focus is on Bennett. He has not been arrested but he has been detained for questioning several times.

Police say there has been absolutely no trace of Carnel since Thursday evening.  Crews have searched the retention ponds at the water treatment plant across the street from Carnel's home and found nothing.

They're also looking into reports of a light green Astro van near Carnel's house at the time of his disappearance.

This is still considered a missing child's case but as every day passes the hope of finding this little boy safe slowly fades.

Carnel Chamberlain's is Native American, 3 ft tall and has brown hair and green eyes.

He was wearing a dark "Angry Birds" shirt with either dark blue or green shorts when he went missing.

If you have any information on Carnel's whereabouts tribal police want to hear from you.
