Portuguese Sausage and Onion Stew

1 lb Spicy italian sausage
1 lb Mild italian sausage
1 lb Yellow onions (sliced)
1 lb Potatoes (medium dice)
1/2 lb Celery (sliced)
1/2 lb Zucchini (sliced)
12 oz can Whole peeled tomatoes
15 oz can Red kidney beans
1 quart Water
1 tbs Garlic (minced)
1 tbs Anise seed (crushed)

Remove sausage meat from casings. Crumble and saute sausage until cooked. Drain off fat. Combine sausage and all remaining ingredients in a kettle. Bring to a boil and simmer, covered, for 45 minutes or until potatoes are tender and flavors are well blended.
