A dive team found the body of an Ohio man in Lake Missaukee this weekend.
At 4:30 p.m. Sunday, the Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an overdue/missing person who had been paddle boarding on Lake Missaukee.
The victim’s paddle board was located in the area of Lake Missaukee and John Street in Lake City.
Deputies and the Missaukee County Marine Patrol began searching for the missing person. The Northern Michigan Mutual Aid Dive Team assisted in the search of the shoreline and water. The victim was located and recovered by divers just after midnight, approximately 150 yards from shore in approximately 17 feet of water.
The victim was identified as 59-year-old Randell Heitkamp of Columbus, Ohio.
The incident remains under investigation.
