Three seventh graders have started their own bass fishing tournament in Cadillac—reeling in local anglers big and small.

Saturday is the first Annual CMS Bass Fishing Tournament at Kenwood Park. It got part of its name, CMS, from the names of its makers.

Carson Carlington, Matthew Miehlke, and Keenan Suminski spearheaded its creation, but they insist they are only three of many involved in turning the idea into a reality.

The three young anglers wanted to create their own tournament “like the pros”—and now they have.

Registration is at 6 a.m. at on Saturday, with fishing beginning at 8 a.m. and weigh in at 2 p.m.

The top three heaviest fish will earn Pilgrims Village gift certificates for $100, $50 and $25.

For more information, head to the event’s or call (231) 878-3549.
