Beginner Stretches: Shoulders

Now he’s taking it down a notch more, showing us some stretches that can be done with a hand towel, t-shirt, or special stretching straps made for this purpose.

Using our hand towels, Watson shows us three shoulder mobility exercises.

One lifts the arms overhead, and he says it’s best not to stretch too far.

“Go through the range of motion that you are comfortable with, you don’t have to be drastically behind you,” Watson says.

Another stretch throws the towel over the shoulder, grabbing it from behind. Watching the video is best for this part, to mimic the flossing motion and pauses.

The third stretch is also from behind.

“This is more of a dynamic stretch,” he says. “We’re just taking the joint through its active range of motion.”

All of these stretches are “great for anybody” Watson says.
