Calling all ice fishers!
It’s the second annual Ice Fishing Derby from Jay’s Sporting Goods.
From now until Feb. 25, anglers can bring their catches into a Jay’s Sporting Goods location for a chance at winning one of the many fishing prizes.
Each legally harvested fish brought into the store is worth an entry into a drawing.
Prizes include a power auger, ice fishing shanty, underwater camera and a fish finder.
Employees at the store say the derby is a way for fishers to compare catches, show off and share in some friendly-spirited competition.
“I’m feeling good. I think we are getting more entries than last year. We changed our point system a little bit, so it’s more favorable to pike and walleye fisherman as opposed to just pan fisherman. I think it’s going well and I look forward to it in the coming years,” said Joe Cook, manager at Jay’s Sporting Goods in Gaylord.
There are even more prizes waiting for ice fishers under the age of 16.
