MDOT Lifting Traffic Restrictions to Ease Busy Fourth of July Travel

We have some good news for holiday travelers.

Many roads that are closed down for construction will be open to traffic this weekend.

The Michigan Department of Transportation is suspending work and lifting restrictions wherever possible throughout the state.

That means 104 out of 140 projects, or two-thirds of projects, will be free for travelers to pass through.

Still, MDOT asks that drivers be careful when driving through those areas.

“There are a number of projects that, while they’re open, aren’t complete,” explained Del Kirkby, Manager at Cadillac MDOT. “Please, as you’re driving through work zones this holiday season, be sure to look out and use caution while in those areas because not everything is done. Things aren’t quite as they would be a little bit later on.”

Projects will be on hold starting Friday at 3 p.m. until Tuesday, July 5th at 6 a.m.
