Traffic Up At Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge

After a long streak of declining traffic, things seem to be turning around at the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge. For 13 months traffic decreased. Then, in late October, 2009, it jumped up again. In November, traffic was up 8%, then in December it was up 7%. Starting 2010, traffic is still up 2%. This is good news to the bridge since they are completely funded by toll revenue. Besides general traffic, they say truck traffic is also increasing. Despite the recent monthly increases, overall traffic at the bridge is still down around 12-percent. 9&10's Christina Vecchioni and Photojournalist Aaron Smith spent the day at the bridge and have more details.
