This week on Crafting with the Katies, we’re going to be making a DIY wooden pumpkin sign. It’s super cute and super easy, and will make any part of your home feel a little more cozy!
For this project, you’ll need:
- Three wooden oval rounds
- A wooden background of your choice
- Popsicle sticks
- Scissors or a craft knife
- Paint
- Paint brushes
- Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
We also used some fake leaves, some ribbon, and a bow for our signs. Feel free to make it as customized as you’d like!
To make a wooden pumpkin sign:
Step 1: Start by painting the three wooden oval rounds. You’ll want to make them all the same color to give the effect of a pumpkin.
Step 2: Cut your popsicle stick to your desired length. You want to make it long enough so it sticks out the top of one of the wooden oval rounds and securely glues to the back of your pumpkin. If you want to paint your stick, you can do that at this step! We wrapped ours with some leftover ribbon from a previous project.
Step 3: This is also a good time to paint or decorate the background you’re going to be putting your pumpkin on. Katy hot glued some fake leaves to her background, while Katie left hers plain. Again, you can customize this project to your liking!
Step 4: Once your oval rounds have completely dried, it’s time to assemble your pumpkins. Start to arrange your oval rounds on your background to see how you want them to sit. When you have an arrangement you like, place two of the oval rounds next to each other and hot glue them to your wooden background piece.
Step 5: Glue your popsicle stem to your last wooden oval. Then, take that last oval round and glue it on top of the two oval rounds in the middle. That’s what gives it the pumpkin shape!
Step 6: Feel free to do any last decorating, creating, or DIY’ing to your sign.
