LSSU Aquatic Research Lab Releases 40,000 Salmon Into St. Mary’s River

Lake Superior State University is helping to keep a viable salmon population in the area.

The college’s aquatic research lab in the Soo just released 40,000 Atlantic Salmon into the St. Mary’s River.

Lab managers say not only is it great for area anglers, but also helping students get hands on experience for their future careers.

The aquatic research lab is a way for students to interact daily with the fish while helping our fisheries at the same time.

Although they just released thousands of fish, the lab says they’re already working on stocking future fish.
