PICKFORD – The Pickford Panthers’ girls basketball team improves to 2-1 on the season in a 44-17 win over Newberry. The Panthers do not play until January and Indians’ next game is Saturday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m.

CEDARVILLE – The St. Ignace Saints and Mackinaw City Comets both earned sweeps in their district semifinal games on Tuesday night. The Saints swept Pickford and Mackinaw City swept the hosting Cedarville-DeTour Islanders to advance. St. Ignace and Mackinaw City will square off in the district championship game on Thursday at 6 p.m. in Cedarville.

CEDARVILLE – The Boyne City Ramblers got themselves ready for districts by going 2-0 at a non-conference tri-meet in Cedarville on Thursday night. The Ramblers swept Pickford 3-0 and then beat Cedarville-DeTour 2-1. Pickford beat Cedarville-DeTour 2-1 in the final match of the night.

PICKFORD – The Brimley Bays picked up an Eastern U.P. road victory over Pickford in volleyball on Thursday night. The Bays beat the Panthers by scores of 25-13 and 25-14 in the first two sets before Pickford responded with a 25-23 win in set three. Brimley closed it out in the fourth set with a 25-14 win.
