Manistee Catholic Squeaks Out Win Over Mason County Eastern

CUSTER - The Manistee Catholic Central Sabers jumped out to a quick lead but had to battle to the end to earn a 42-40 win over Mason County Eastern on Wednesday night.

The Sabers started the game on an 11-1 run, but the Cardinals battled back to make it just a 3-point game (15-12) at the end of the first quarter.

Matt Gunia led the Sabers with 12 points. Zachary Howe and Aaron Drake led the Cardinals with 11 points apiece.

Manistee Catholic Central (6-5, 5-3 West Michigan D League) will put their 4-game winning streak on the line when they travel to Brethren on Friday. Mason County Eastern (1-10, 1-7 WMDL) is on the road on Friday night at Walkerville.
