TC St. Francis’ Wyatt Nausadis Scores 1,000th Career Point

TRAVERSE CITY – Traverse City St. Francis senior Wyatt Nausadis crossed the 1,000 career point mark in impressive fashion last week, coming up with a steal and a two-handed dunk on the other end in the opening minute of the Gladiators 76-29 win over East Jordan.

“He knew going into that East Jordan game he was at 999,” said St. Francis head boys basketball coach Sean Finnegan. “Nowadays with social media, the second anyone knew about it, it was everywhere. But to be able to do it out of our defense, which is our staple, and then to be able to do it with a two-hand dunk? That’s pretty cool.”

“That was pretty special to me, there’s a lot of hard work that’s gone into it,” said Nausadis. “Especially just playing under the same coaches for four years and being on the team since I was a freshman. It took a lot of time and it felt like it really paid off.”

Nausadis and the Gladiators are off to a 5-1 start this winter.

Nausadis was a Second Team All-State selection last season. He was also a First Team All-State quarterback in football this fall, helping the Gladiators finish as state runners-up.

“Obviously, I couldn’t have [reached this milestone] without this senior class, we all kind of came up together,” Nausadis added. “Individually, there’s been a lot of hard work that’s gone into my basketball game as a person and who I’ve created myself to be. So it just felt good to have it pay off a little bit.”
