CMU Signs MAC’s No. 1 Class, Including Sault High’s John Burke

The Central Michigan Chippewas ended National Signing Day with the No. 1 recruiting class in the MAC, as ranked by 247Sports.

The Chippewas signed 25 players to the class of 2023, including Sault Ste. Marie’s John Burke.

Burke was First Team All-State for the Blue Devils this fall and will play on the interior offensive line at Central Michigan.

Burke has several family members that went to CMU and said he knew that’s where he wanted to go as soon as the Chippewas gave him an offer.

“A coach kind of came here out of the blue one day and said he liked what I had and that he wants me to come to a camp,” Burke said of his recruitment. “So I went to the camp, showed what I got and got an offer there. So right there I committed and knew this was the place I wanted to go.”

The Chippewas recruiting class includes 12 players from Michigan high schools.

Central Michigan is set to begin spring practice in March and 10 of the signees are expected to enroll early and be on campus for spring practice.
