SAULT STE. MARIE – Sault Ste. Marie senior Claire Erickson signed her National Letter of Intent to play basketball for Ferris State on Thursday afternoon.
Erickson, a three-time First Team All-Conference selection, has helped lead the Blue Devils to three straight district championships. She’s a versatile player who’s excited to play whatever role is asked of her at Ferris State.
“I’m just really excited for the tempo, the speed. Everything in college is just bigger and faster, everything is better,” said Erickson. “So I’m just excited to play at that level.”
Erickson said she was recruited by most GLIAC schools and some schools in the MAC, but ultimately Ferris State seemed like the best fit.
“I think the number one thing for me was the people. I knew a lot of the people that are already on the team because they played for the same AAU club as me. The campus, the people, the location, everything just felt like it was a good fit for me.”
Erickson and the Blue Devils tip off her senior season on Dec. 6th against Marquette.
