MARION – Gaylord St. Mary hauls to Marion for the MISportsNow Game of the Week. The teams will be competing on Friday for the Regional Championship.
The Snowbirds and the Eagles have gone through an entire regular season and now the first round of playoffs. Teams often credit chemistry between all the players to get to a playoff run, but these teammates would go further than the term chemistry.
“I think every every player here is part of the family,” said Marion senior Mason Prielipp.
“We’re all very close,” said St. Mary senior Gavin Bebble. “We have a close locker room. Everyone’s friends, we don’t have any beef or anything like that so I think that helps us. And it’s our coaching staff, it’s our scout team, it’s not just the starters, it’s everyone.”
Although these teammates refer to each other as family, there are times when actual family members play together. Like Marion cousins Gavin Prielipp and Braden Prielipp.
“It’s a lot of fun. I think it’s good that I can play with someone that I’m so close with,” said Marion junior Braden Prielipp.
This 8-man Division II matchup kicks off at 7 p.m. on Friday night.
