Petoskey Tops Alpena in Division II District Championship

PETOSKEY – The Petoskey soccer team notched a 4-1 victory over league rival Alpena on Saturday afternoon to claim the District 32 Championship.

Kurtis Mainland got the Northmen on the board with a penalty kick goal early in the first half.  Charlie Smith and Sawyer Webster added first half goals as Petoskey built a 3-0 halftime lead.

Noah Bodurka made it 4-0 Petoskey in the second half.  Alpena tallied their lone goal late in the second half on a header by Austin Townsend.

With the win, Petoskey now advances to face East Grand Rapids in a Regional Semifinal on Tuesday at Cedar Springs High School.
