Cadillac’s Michelle Brines Passes 900 Career Wins

CADILLAC – Cadillac head volleyball coach Michelle Brines recently surpassed the 900 career win mark.

She has been the head coach at Cadillac since 2001. Brines said she’s been blessed to coach great players throughout that time.

Two more of her former players, Ali Finch (Class of 2017) and Gabrielle Kapuscinski (Class of 2016), will be inducted into the Cadillac High School Athletics Hall of Fame later this month. They’ll join a host of other Vikings who played for Brines in the last 23 years.

Brines said this is her 30th year of coaching volleyball overall and the time has gone by quickly.

“It did kind of sneak up on me but you know it’s funny, I’ve changed over the years,” Brines said. “I wish the me now could have coached some of those earlier teams. I feel like we could’ve won even more. But you gain that and you grow and the players teach you and you learn things around the way. It’s gone by in a flash for sure.”

With over 900 career wins, Brines is among the top 25 winningest volleyball coaches in state history.

Cadillac is off to an 8-2 start this season.

The Vikings will play at Traverse City Central on Wednesday.
