Pit Spitters Lead Division Heading into Home Stretch of Regular Season

TRAVERSE CITY – The Traverse City Pit Spitters have a big stretch of games coming up to close out the regular season.

Traverse City needs to win the division in the second half of the regular season to secure a playoff spot and currently holds a 3.5 game lead over the Rockford Rivets in the Great Lakes East Division.

The Pit Spitters have 12 games left in the regular season and two will be against Rockford at home on Thursday and Friday.

The Rivets are on a six-game winning streak. The Pit Spitters have won 13 of their last 16 games.

“As a team as a whole, we’ve kind of been able to start solidifying the lineup and just a lot of guys are starting to get really comfortable here,” manager Josh Rebandt said about the team’s strong second half. “It just takes a little bit time for everybody to get here and then guys to get comfortable. We started playing really well towards the end of the first half. We’ve been able to carry it over into the second half so far and there’s a lot of baseball left but I really am excited about the direction where our team is headed right now.”
