Lake City Football Ready to Rebound After Missing Playoffs for First Time Since 2016

LAKE CITY – The Lake City Trojans went 5-4 last season but missed the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

The Trojans are motivated to get back to the postseason this fall and have a lot of returning players at the skill positions to help them do it.

Head coach Kyle Smith said the team is focused on playing selfless football and trusting that selflessness will lead to success on the field.

“It’s always been about the team,” Smith said. “It’s not about individuals. It should never matter whose name is in the paper under the stats section. That stuff is irrelevant. The main thing is what the score says at the end of the day. If you play team football and you’re sound and disciplined and really there for each other, then our score will be better than the opposing team so it’s really just about being there as a team.”

The Trojans open the season on Friday on the road against Cheboygan.
