Leland Volleyball Sets Sights on Deeper Playoff Run

LELAND – In 2021, Leland had its postseason run end in the first round against a talented Traverse City Christian team, marking the first time the Comets didn’t win at least one playoff game.

This year, they return a majority of that team and are looking to make a deeper run.

They also made the state semifinals six times from 2013 to 2019. They started the season with challenging tournaments at home and at Cadillac.

“We’re going for it,” said junior Fiona Moord. “We’re really pushing ourselves. Obviously, we want to do really well. Last year, I think we all saw it as a skill training year, getting to know each other and building team. This year we’re coming together as more of a unit.”

“Last year was a building year, so I feel like it’s pretty much a new team this year and so I’m really excited to see what happens. We’re all working together really well.”
