Kingsley Sets Sights on Fifth Straight Winning Season

KINGSLEY – The Kingsley Stags lost 17 seniors from last year’s team that finished with a 10-2 record and a district championship.

Although the Stags are young, they are confident they can get the new players acclimated quickly and put together another memorable season.

“We lost 17, nine from both sides,” said senior Kyan Fessenden (some players play both offense and defense). “So we’ve just got to fill those shoes and do our best.”

“[We’re] just trying to get those JV kids caught up to varsity lingo and technique,” added head coach Tim Wooer. “It’s a little deeper than just understanding your blocking and your responsibility but [it’s understanding] how to really, really execute.”

“I just really hope we can bring those younger guys up from the JV level and just kind of bond ourselves together like we did last year,” said senior Owen Buning.

Kingsley’s first game of the year is against McBain. The Stags beat the Ramblers 54-8 in their first game last season. McBain last beat Kingsley in 2017.
