Michigan Football Visits Soo Locks

SAULT STE. MARIE – The Michigan football team’s tour of the state concluded Friday with stops throughout the upper peninsula.

The day started with a visit to the Soo Locks in the morning before stops at Tahquamenon Falls and Pictured Rocks in the afternoon.

In years past, the team has taken trips overseas. This year, they decided to stay close to home and visit some of the most iconic places in the state that they represent on Saturdays on fall.

“We’ve taken three other trips, one to Rome with the team, Paris and we’ve been to South Africa,” said Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh. “We’ve been five feet from the Mona Lisa, five feet from a lion and five feet from the pope. Now, being able to experience our home state and really connect with our fan base — we’ve had a few pep rallies along the way — [has been] just a tremendous learning and educational experience.”

Training camp for the Michigan football team begins August 3rd.
