Traverse City Pit Spitters Gear Up for 2022 Home Opener Against Battle Jacks

TRAVERSE CITY – The Pit Spitters are back in Traverse City to host the Battle Creek Battle Jacks in the 2022 home opener at Turtle Creek Stadium on Friday.

It’s been a fun first few seasons for the Pit Spitters, highlighted by back-to-back Northwoods League titles. And even though it’s a new team this year, the expectations are the same.

Manager Josh Rebandt said this team might be the best he’s had in his three years at the helm in Traverse City.

The Pit Spitters’ season started with four games on the road, with TC going 1-3 against the Battle Jacks and Rockford Rivets. This is a much needed trip back home to try and bounce back.

Rebandt mentioned that he’s excited to have his team back in Traverse City, ready to experience the home-crowd atmosphere.

“Opening up on a Friday night in Traverse City. You can’t ask for a better Friday night here. So really excited for that opportunity. That was actually one of the things I asked Mickey, can we get a Friday night home opener? And I don’t remember how it all came to be. But the fact that we have that here this season after a championship run last year, the community buzz, the player buzz. I’m really excited,” said Rebandt.

The Pit Spitters and Battle Creeks are set to face off at 7:05 p.m. at Turtle Creek Stadium.
