CEDAR SPRINGS – The Elk Rapids girls soccer team saw its season come to a close with a 3-1 loss to Hudsonville Unity Christian in the Div. 3 state semifinals Wednesday night.
Entering the game, Unity Christian had scored 98 goals in 22 games this season, an average of 4.45 goals per game. On the other hand, Elk Rapids had allowed just six goals all season.
It became an uphill battle for Elk Rapids early in the game when starting goalkeeper Jorja Jenema left with an injury.
The Elks’ lone goal was scored by Gabby Krakow late in the first half. It was a 3-1 game at halftime and that score held throughout the second half.
The Elks finish the season 18-3 with conference, district and regional championships to their credit.
