Chelsea Dantonio Leads After Day Two of Michigan Women’s Open

THOMPSONVILLE – Chelsea Dantonio shot a -5 second round to take a one-stroke lead at the 29th Michigan PGA Women’s Open at Crystal Mountain.

Dantonio is at -2 for the tournament, one shot ahead of Crystal Wang in second place.

Sandra Angulo Minarro was the leader heading into the day but she shot a +6 in the second round and is now in a four-way tie for third place at +1 for the tournament.

Dantonio, 24, carded seven birdies in her round on Tuesday and finished bogey-free on the back nine.

“I just made a lot of good putts, putting was good. I actually had a one-putt on every green on the back nine except for hole eight,” she said afterward. “I definitely feel more confident with the course like I know which way the greens are going to have the ball funnel down towards. I know where to hit it off the tee a little better so tomorrow should be good as long as the nerves are [okay.] It’s always tough being in first.”

The final round of the tournament is Wednesday. Dantonio and the rest of the lead group will tee off at 9:50 a.m.
