Beal City Wins Regional Title, Advances to State Semifinals in Baseball

MIDLAND — Beal City won a regional title and defeated Muskegon Catholic Central, 11-6, to advance to the Div. 4 state semifinals on Saturday.

The Aggies secured the regional title with a 12-1 victory over Fowler to start the day, setting up a rematch with Muskegon Catholic Central, the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year.

Beal jumped out to a 4-0 lead in two innings, but the Crusaders scored three in the fifth inning to tie it up, 5-5.

The Aggies retook the lead in the sixth inning on a wild scenario where they loaded the bases and Muskegon Catholic Central attempted a hidden ball trick, which didn’t work. On top of that, the pitcher balked to allow a run to score and give Beal City the 6-5 lead. By the end of the top of the sixth, Beal City had a 9-5 lead.

The Aggies advance to the state semifinals where they will face Whitmore Lake on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Michigan State.
