Mesick Boys Hoops Ranked in BCAM’s Top Shooters for Three-Pointers in 2021-22 Season

MESICK – The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan released its “Top Shooters” for the 2021-22 basketball season, with the Mesick boys team placing No. 10 in the state for three-point field goals percentage.

The Bulldogs shot 33.64 percent from beyond the arc and made an impressive 181 threes in the regular season, ranking first among the top ten teams on the list.

Following its playoff run to this past year’s district finals, Mesick finished with a total of 195 three-pointers made. That lands the Bulldogs at No. 19 in the state for all-time threes made in a single season.

“It’s really cool because it’s something that not a lot of people have happened and it’s a very prestigious honor,” said Mesick junior Caleb Linna.

“The three point shooting was definitely a large, important aspect of our team, and I think it contributed to a lot of our wins. I’m actually really proud of our guys and what we were able to do in the offseason, the amount of work that we were able to put in and I think all that kind of correlated over and we were able to accomplish what we worked for all summer,” said Mesick senior Connor Simmer.

The historic season was highlighted by the against Baldwin in January which put them among the best shooting performances in state history.

They joined 84 other boys basketball teams that have scored a minimum of 15 three-pointers in a game, .

Mesick joins Buckley (No. 3) and Traverse City St. Francis (No. 9) as the area schools to place in the “Top Shooters” team three-point field goals category.

Mesick ended a memorable 2021-2022 campaign with an overall record of 21-2. The Bulldogs went a perfect 18-0 in West Michigan D League play on their way to the conference title.
