Big Rapids Routes Fremont in Girls Soccer, Advances to CSAA Tournament Championship

BIG RAPIDS – Big Rapids girls soccer cruised to a 9-1 win over Fremont in the CSAA Tournament semifinals on Wednesday, advancing the Cardinals to the conference championship.

Big Rapids defeated Kent City 3-0 in the first round of the league tournament. They will play Newaygo in the CSAA Tournament championship after the Lions defeated Tri-County 3-1 in the other semifinal.

The win also improves the Cardinals to 12-5-2 overall and 8-0-1 in conference play.

The Cardinals recorded a perfect, 9-0 record in conference play last season to clinch the CSAA crown. Big Rapids will seek a second straight title.

Fremont falls to 6-4 in the CSAA and 10-7 overall. The Packers are set to open first-round district play against Whitehall in Div. 2 next Wednesday.
